simpledoc is a system for retrieving and displaying hypertext documents. The aim of the system is to provide flexible but simple markup and styling of hypertext documents, to keep the focus on the information being conveyed.

SDTP (Simple Document Transfer Protocol) is used to transfer documents, which are marked up in SDML (Simple Document Markup Language) and styled with SDSS (Simple Document Style Sheets), all of which have been created for this system. As mentioned, they are simpler than their web counterparts (HTTP, HTML and CSS), but still provide ample room for customisation of documents.

This system is still under development, with many intended features unimplemented, but the core functionality is in place.
